A contribution from Maximilian Schmitt from 30 March 2021
Prenzlauer Berg has an established coffee scene. Many of the cafés are located in quiet side streets and invite you to linger. Especially in summer, a coffee tour through the generally known Kiez is worthwhile.
No Fire No Glory
The motto of the café is in the name itself: No Fire No Glory. Without passion, you can’t expect anything glorious. In every detail, you can tell that a great deal of dedication and heart and soul has gone into the work here. From the inviting exterior, to the pictures on the wall, to the brew bar – all the details are just right here.
The coffee comes from Bonanza Coffee and The Coffee Collective
No Fire No Glory partners with Bonanza Coffee for its espresso-based drinks, and relies on a blend for its milk drinks – rotating single origin espressos from different roasters are also on offer. A special focus is on filter coffee: numerous coffees from the well-known Danish roaster The Coffee Collective are offered, which can be prepared using various brewing methods, such as the Kalita hand filter or the AeroPress. The café also offers breakfast, which varies seasonally.
It’s worth checking out the events from time to time, such as Bar Nights, where coffee cocktails, among other things, are offered from 8 p.m. onward.

Café Kraft
Café Kraft serves the neighborhood around Bornholmer Straße and Schönhauser Allee with JB coffee, homemade cakes and brunch.
Varying single origin coffees are on tap
Primarily, the open-minded, friendly owners want their guests to feel comfortable here and have a good time. Casual and cozy, the corner café presents itself, offering a long bar as well as some seating with tables. Coffees from JB Kaffee are offered – even a „Kraft Blend“ that is absolutely recommended. In addition, rotating single origin filter coffees are offered. These are prepared as Batch Brew, but can also be brewed with the AeroPress on request. In summer, you can sit outside on the long wooden bench and watch the hustle and bustle on the street.

WIM Kaffee
WIM Kaffee is a real neighborhood café in the Gleimkiez – somewhat hidden between Schönhauser Allee and Mauerpark.
The small coffee bar serves JB coffee and offers small sweet dishes, such as homemade banana bread or pastéis de nata. At the large wooden table that takes up the entire café, you can relax and drink your coffee while looking out over the quiet side street. In good weather, you can also enjoy your coffee really well outside, on the seating in front of the cafe. In addition, the WIM offers coffee beans for home use from Channel Coffee Brewers from Berlin and JB Kaffee.

Godshot
The Godshot is one of the pioneers of Berlin’s Third Wave coffee scene. Kai-Uwe Beyer has been running the café on Immanuelkirchstraße since 2008.
Godshot = a perfect espresso you won’t forget.
Since the beginning, every single shot of espresso there has been weighed out to a tenth of a gram. The Godshot offers a welcome change from the crowded hot spots in other parts of the city. The decor is a mix of cozy living room atmosphere with sofas and industrial look. In the summer, it’s also wonderful to drink your favorite coffee outside. Not only light roasted coffees are offered here, but also really good Italian roasts. There’s coffee from Phoenix Coffee Roasters from Dresden, as well as varying coffees from Frankfurt roaster Backyard Coffee. The Godshot also serves cakes, pastries, and the Australian chocolate chip cookie „Tim Tam.“

Bonanza Coffee Heroes
The small café in the immediate vicinity of Mauerpark is especially popular on Sundays, when Mauerpark calls for a flea market. In the minimalistically designed café, there are not only interesting faces to watch, but also really good coffee to enjoy. Three different filter coffees and two espresso roasts are served here daily.
Every Saturday at 1 p.m., there is a one-hour public cupping where you can taste a wide variety of coffees. Learn more about Bonanza Coffee Roasters. Bonanza Coffee Roasters in the Coffee Guide Berlin-Kreuzberg.
