The summer trend: Cold Brew coffee. In addition to ice coffee (also known as Ice Brew), Cold Brew is a refreshing method of coffee preparation for hot days. Cold Brew is prepared with cold water and an extraction time of at least twelve hours. We will show you how it is made!
The name already reveals it: Cold Brew is not brewed with hot water as we know it from filter coffee, but extracted over several hours in cold water. It contains about 70 % less acids and bitter substances than coffee brewed with hot water and tastes really fruity and refreshing.
Cold Brew instructions
- Grind 100 g coffee coarsely and mix it with 1 l water, then stir well.
- Cover your pot and leave the coffee in the fridge for at least 12 hours.
- Filter the cold-extracted coffee.
- Enjoy the finished Cold Brew pure or pimp it with fruit juices!
To spice up Cold Brew with e.g. lemon sorbet or to prepare cocktails with it, we recommend making a Cold Brew concentrate. Simply double the amount of coffee and then dilute the concentrate to drinking strength.
